We look forward to seeing you there!
Wind Turbine Becomes a Reality
On December 18th the Wray School District RD-2 Board of Education voted to
approve the purchase of a 900 KW wind turbine from Americas Wind Energy in
Toronto, Canada. This project will be built on land recently purchased by
the City of Wray and located south of Wray on Highway 385 near County Road
JJ. The City of Wray and the Board of Education have partnered together through
a power purchase agreement to see this project become a reality. The renewable
energy captured from this wind turbine project will be placed into the city
grid for consumer use.
The Kitzmiller/Bales Trust as well as local business and community members were a vital financial resource to the school district as this wind project developed. As the project unfolds, the school district will be updating the community on its progress.
The Board of Education wishes to thank everyone involved in this endeavor. The original idea and initial legwork came about because of the dedication of the Vo-Ag program at Wray High School and specifically Mr. Jay Clapper, the Vo-Ag instructor.
The Wind Turbine Project should reach completion
over the next fourteen months. The community, City Council and Wray School
District look forward to the educational opportunities and financial rewards
this project will provide for our students.
