A couple of anonymous staff members nominated two classified employees and a sixth grade student who are making BMS a more productive and compassionate place. They are Nathan Wilson, Leslie Revell, and Tommy Staggs.
Nathan Wilson is the district trouble-shooter for technology concerns. Nathan is willing to drop virtually anything to help a staff member or student. Leslie Revell is the BMS library/media center specialist. Leslie regularly stays after she goes off the clock to help teachers, and is presently helping students in a mathematics classroom. Nathan and Leslie possess a “Yes, I can” and Yes, I will” attitude. Tommy Staggs is a sixth grade student at BMS. He recently helped a friend in need get necessary help. Tommy expressed a concern and school officials intervened.
Going the so-called “Extra Mile” is closely related to a famous African proverb. It truly “it takes a village to raise a child.”
Those nominated receive a complementary T-shirt, encouraging everyone to “Step Up!” On the back of the shirt, a simple addition problem is presented, “5280 + 5280 = The Extra Mile.”
