The district has completed a purchase of approximately 11 acres of land directly west of the high school for the purchase price of $100,000. The district received a generous donation of $50,000 from the Kitzmiller-Bales Trust toward the cost of the land. The Board of Education felt that when this opportunity presented itself, it provided the possibility, in the future, of having all
schools on the main campus. The Board of Education realizes the cost is significant; however this may have been a one time opportunity to expand the current campus, so they acted accordingly.
In the meantime, the district is looking at how to best utilize the alfalfa crop that currently sits on the ground, including utilization by the district’s own programs such as the agriculture department and FFA or through leasing it out privately. The property does have water rights to the Wray Ditch but the district has no immediate plans on utilization.
