iPads with a Purpose

Wray School District provides an iPad to every student in 5th through 12th grade with their "iPads with a Purpose" project.
Students in grades 5-12 will be able to take the iPad home with them to work collaboratively on group projects or do web based research on their own. Learning is no longer confined to the hours of the school day; with today's technology, it can happen any hour of the day from anywhere.

Wray High School students will take ownership of their school issued iPad on the first day of school.

Buchanan Middle School students will be using the iPads after the first couple of weeks, using them at school only.  Students will be able to take their iPads home by mid-term of Quarter 1.

Wray Elementary School will have  iPads in all K - 4th grade classrooms that will not go home with students.  Each teacher will have 10 iPads per classroom; each grade level will have access to 30 iPads.  Special teachers will be able to checkout iPads to use with small group interaction.

Our new filtering system will allow us to filter school owned equipment at school and away from our school network.  Every app will be filtered, as well as all internet browsing. Please refer to the Acceptable Use Policy for more information about expectations concerning content filtering.

Apple IDs for Minors
http://www.apple.com/internetservices/terms/membership_terms.html

From Paragraph Five:
To use any of the Services, you must be at least 13 years old (or, for non-U.S. users, such older minimum age as may be required by applicable local law). If you are under the required age, you may still use the Services (subject to applicable local non-U.S. law), but only if the account you are using was created and registered by your parent or legal guardian.

This means that the parent or legal guardian must create the account and use their information when filling in the required fields. The purpose of this requirement is to protect the information of a minor. In addition the parent or legal guardian is the one with the ability to change and recover the password for the account.

To set up the Apple ID for your student you will need:
  1. A unique email address that has not been used to create an Apple ID in the past.
  2. Each Apple ID must be connected to a SEPARATE email address.  Parents can setup the account with the student's wrayschools.org email address or a valid email address.
  3. Set up the account with your (parent or legal guardian) information. This means: birthday, secret questions, and billing info (even when selecting None in payment info.)
  4. Information related to creating a new Apple ID with no credit card required.
