Wray RD-2 Seeks Comments

In response to a request from the public, the Wray School District will be reviewing the district policy prohibiting “school-sponsored or related activities on Wednesday evenings.”  Realizing that there are both pros and cons to the policy, the Board of Education is requesting input from the community in consideration of any possible policy revision.  This policy may be viewed in its entirety at the district’s website (www.wrayschools.org) or is available at the District Office.  Written comments may be forwarded to the district by May 19, 2008 or you may present your verbal comments  at the regular Board meeting on that date at 6:00 PM.  Verbal comments will be limited to three minutes per person.

 

Wray Wind Turbine Comes to Life

Over the past five years the Wray School District has experienced countless highs and lows in the process of completing the wind turbine project.  As the Wray Gazette goes to press this week the wind turbine is going through its final adjustments. 

When the idea of a wind turbine was first proposed, no one anticipated the complexity of the process leading to the moment when the City of Wray would accept the first power generated by the turbine.  Although the ceremony to “flip the switch” occurred over two months ago, the time since then has been spent troubleshooting the equipment, making final adjustments, passing mandated inspections and becoming familiar with the network of equipment and personnel that will provide technical support to this project. 

As you note the blades turning evenly in the wind, realize that with the perseverance of school personnel and community support, this “dream turned into reality” is providing an environmentally safe source of power to our community and added financial support to the education of our most valuable resource, our students.
